Rep. Haley Stevens, who represents Michigan’s 11th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed recent developments and legislative priorities in a series of posts on April 16, 2026.
On the morning of April 16, Stevens commented on emergency response efforts following severe storms in Michigan. She wrote, “I’m grateful to see a state of emergency declared for 32 additional Michigan counties after the devastating storms. Getting more resources to our first responders and local officials is critical as they work to protect our families, homes, and businesses. I’m continuing to” (posted at 01:42 UTC).
Later that day, during Care Workers Recognition Month, Stevens acknowledged the contributions of caregivers across the country. In her post she stated, “This April, during Care Workers Recognition Month, we celebrate the caregivers who make all other work possible. I will never stop fighting to recognize their work with the dignity, wages, and benefits they have earned.” (posted at 16:29 UTC).
Addressing student loan debt relief later that afternoon, Stevens wrote about new legislation aimed at easing burdens for borrowers: “Student loan borrowers shouldn’t have to bear the burden of debt for the rest of their lives. The Clean Slate through Consolidation Act would allow borrowers who are following all the rules and making their payments to consolidate their loans and get a clean slate for the future.” (posted at 18:57 UTC).
Stevens has served in Congress since replacing Dave Trott in 2019 and currently resides in Birmingham after being born in Rochester Hills in 1983. She holds a BA from American University.
