First United Methodist Church Of Birmingham recently issued the following announcement.

Year-End Giving

GIVE NOW

Your financial gifts truly are making a difference as we seek to gather, nurture and equip disciples of Jesus Christ for ministry and mission in the world.

As we approach the end of 2019, we get many questions about the best way to make a gift to the church, and also about the timing.

For anyone wanting to complete their 2019 Estimate of Giving, pre-pay their 2020 Estimate of Giving, or make an additional gift to our 2019 Ministry Plan from a Donor-advised fund or with a gift of stock, I would recommend contacting your financial institution or advisor. If you would like information on how to send a gift of stock to Birmingham or Berkley First, please email Holly Pisano

If you are at least 70½ and have a traditional IRA and you have not taken your Required Minimum Distribution yet for 2019, you can make a contribution directly to Birmingham or Berkley First as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). You are allowed to transfer up to $100,000 a year to the charities of our choice. Your gift will not be reported as taxable income to you and will count toward your minimum distribution requirements for 2019. Please contact your individual plan administrator for additional information.

Also, a reminder that December 31 is a Tuesday. For your convenience, the Finance Office will be open until 2 p.m. on that day. Any donations to the church that you would like acknowledged in 2019 must be received or postmarked on or before that day. End of year statements will be mailed in January 2020.

As we prepare to welcome the Christ child, thank you for the gifts you bring!
