U.S. Representative Haley Stevens, who has represented Michigan’s 11th district in Congress since 2019, recently used her social media platform to address concerns about rising grocery prices and legislative efforts aimed at alleviating these costs for Michiganders.
On September 17, 2025, Stevens posted: "Groceries are a necessity, and Michiganders are feeling the pain of Trump's price hikes. My No Tariffs on Groceries Act will lower costs for Michiganders."
The following day, she reiterated her stance by stating: "Hardworking Michiganders should not be crushed under the weight of high grocery prices thanks to Trump’s chaotic tariffs. That’s why I introduced the No Tariffs on Groceries Act." This post was made on September 18, 2025.
Later that same day, Stevens addressed Republican actions in Congress with another statement: "As long as Republicans refuse to help Michigan, count me as a hard no on their CR."
Stevens’ comments reference recent debates over tariffs imposed during former President Donald Trump’s administration and their alleged impact on consumer prices. The "No Tariffs on Groceries Act," which she introduced, is intended to reduce grocery costs by eliminating certain import taxes.
Born in Rochester Hills in 1983 and currently residing in Birmingham, Stevens has been an advocate for economic relief measures since joining Congress. She holds a BA from American University and succeeded Dave Trott when she took office in 2019.
