Michigan state Rep. Kathy Crawford (R-Novi) posted on Facebook about the hardships businesses in the state are facing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Living in Oakland County/Metro Detroit, I understand why we need to take this a little slower to ensure we keep everyone safe," Crawford said on Facebook. "However, in other parts of the state, where there are very few cases (or no cases) and they haven't had new cases in 14 days, businesses that can open safely should be open."
Crawford said business owners and empoloyees are constantly calling her and asking for the government to reopen businesses.
"I get calls every day from businesspeople who are watching their hard work slip away," Crawford said on Facebook. "They aren't being greedy; they want to work and provide a service or product to their customers safely. They send me their plans on how they will maintain the CDC guidelines, and keep their employees and customers, pleading for the government to allow them to open. Again, this should be about regional, safe/unsafe standards. Not a blanket 'no' from our government."
