There are so many leftover pumpkins after Halloween in Oakland County, according to the Oakland County Blog, some residents may be tempted to throw them in the trash.
Officials say that there are still thousands of pumpkins remaining in Oakland County fields. However, the remaining pumpkins have already been coated with frost due to falling temperatures expected at this time of year.
Workers in the fields have turned many of the leftover pumpkins into scarecrows and other human figures, sometimes in a humorous and artistic way. This ensures that any pumpkins left abandoned won’t go to waste at the end of the season.
Other pumpkins will be consumed by deer, wild hogs and other smaller creatures of the wild. Additionally, other remaining pumpkins will be plowed back into the earth. Officials suggest that residents cut their pumpkin in half and place them outside. It shouldn't take long for squirrels, birds and other animals to feast on the leftover pumpkins.
