Maverick Transportation has selected a product from Novi-based company Stoneridge, Inc., to be included as an equipment standard for all future tractor sales amid a new partnership between the companies, according to PR Newswire.
Moving forward, Stoneridge’s MirrorEye Camera Monitor System (CMS) will be a part of Maverick’s equipment specifications. The agreement includes an evaluation of safety incidents and operational capacities to help secure and improve drivers’ visibility.
The product is the first of its kind ever to obtain a federal exemption under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), which gives trucks with the MirrorEye CMS permission to operate with the CMS instead of traditional mirrors.

President of Maverick Transportation -- located in Little Rock, Arkansas -- John Culp told PR Newswire, "MirrorEye is an awesome safety technology and will be a game changer for our drivers. The reduction of blind spots, better night vision and visibility in inclement weather situations, plus the ability to see the end of the trailer in forward and backward maneuvers as the cameras pan, will make the driving job safer and less stressful. It's a no-brainer, just like backup cameras are for passenger vehicles.”
MirrorEye is touted as a product that improves a driver’s safety, ultimately increasing efficiency.
President and CEO of Stoneridge Jon DeGaynor told PR Newswire, “Maverick has been a long-standing Stoneridge partner and has been instrumental in identifying feature priorities to further advance the MirrorEye platform. The decision to expand MirrorEye across their fleet was due in large part to the safety data we compiled during the evaluation period. Validation of the significant positive safety impact of our systems is a critical step in the adoption process."
