The Walled Lake Competitive Marching Band put on a show at the Bands of America Regional Championship in Louisville, Kentucky.
The combined band from Walled Lake Central and Walled Lake Western shined in a field that featured 33 bands from 5 states across the Midwest, including three Grand National Champions and six classification National Champions. They took first place in the AAA Class and won two of the three caption awards: Outstanding Music Performance and Outstanding General Effect.
The Top 12 overall bands, regardless of classification, moved onto the finals performance, where Walled Lake took 5th place among the 33 bands competing, and finished in 3rd overall in music performance.
“I am extraordinarily proud of our students, parents, and instructional staff,” said Walled Lake Competitive Marching Band co-director Patrick Dudzinski. “The collective effort of everyone involved last weekend is a point of pride for our program.”
“Very few bands ever get to call themselves a Bands of America Regional Champion, and we are in that excellent group of bands that meet that criteria,” added fellow co-director David Rogers. “We could not be more happy for and proud of our entire band community in Walled Lake, including all of the middle school bands and elementary music programs that help prepare students for our program. We could not be successful without them.”
