The City of Farmington invites everyone to ring (or rink) in the new year at Riley Park Ice Rink on New Year’s Eve. This will be the second year a volunteer-crafted ball will descend from the top of a Farmington Public Safety firetruck onto the ice rink as the community counts down together.
Kids can enjoy a smaller ball drop in the Sundquist Pavilion at 9 p.m. as part of a family-friendly skate event. Harry Potter and the Holiday Skate will be in full swing for its fourth year from 7:30—9:30 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.
Those interested in the midnight ball drop have many Farmington options that evening:
- Skate to your favorite dance tunes until midnight
- See Pitch Perfect at the Farmington Civic Theater from 9:40—11:32 p.m. and make it to the rink by 11:45 p.m.
- Get a drink at a local Syndicate bar or restaurant and bring it over to the rink just before the stroke of midnight.
- Stay cozy in your home, then bundle up and venture out just before we “rink” in the new year
The event venue, Riley Park and the Sundquist Pavilion, is now part of Downtown Farmington’s social district, The Syndicate. This means that adult beverages can be purchased at participating restaurants and bars then brought to the rink for a toast (or two).
