Rep. Haley Stevens, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Michigan’s 11th district since 2019, has recently used her social media platform to address issues concerning military support and cancer research funding.
On September 9, 2025, Stevens posted about reintroducing legislation aimed at supporting servicemembers. She wrote, "Our servicemembers fight for us every day, and now it's our turn to fight for them. That’s why I reintroduced the SHIELD Act, legislation I was proud to introduce with my friend Elissa Slotkin last year. This bill ensures our military is equipped to face a new kind of" (September 9, 2025).
The following day, Stevens addressed proposed cuts to cancer research by Secretary Kennedy. In her post dated September 10, 2025, she stated, "I demanded @SecKennedy stop his dangerous cuts to lifesaving cancer research. Here's what I got back when I called on him to stop cutting cancer research. Enough. He needs to resign, now."
Later that same day, Stevens referenced a press conference with Dr. John Prensner regarding the issue and reiterated her stance against Secretary Kennedy's actions: "I just got off a press conference with Dr. John Prensner about @SecKennedy's devastating cancer research cuts. This is unacceptable, and that’s why I’m calling on RFK to resign." (September 10, 2025).
Stevens’ advocacy reflects her ongoing commitment as a representative of Michigan’s 11th district—a position she has held since replacing Dave Trott in 2019—and her background as an American University graduate born in Rochester Hills in 1983.
