Rep. Haley Stevens, who represents Michigan’s 11th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently used her social media platform to address the ongoing government shutdown and its impact on health care costs and federal workers.
On October 2, 2025, Stevens posted, "If you have questions about the Trump-caused government shutdown, visit my FAQ page for help: https://t.co/n5nOWh5uX7 I'm not backing down — I'm fighting for Michigan every step of the way."
Later that same day, she stated, "Let's be clear: Trump and his Republican allies are the ones standing in the way of keeping health care affordable. I’m holding the line for lower costs. https://t.co/8TaFqpJPRs" on her official account.
The following day, on October 3, 2025, Stevens addressed the effects of the shutdown on public servants: "Republicans shut down the government instead of working to lower health care costs. Service members and federal workers in Michigan and across the country aren't getting paid. No member of Congress should get a paycheck while this continues - and that's why I'm refusing mine. https://t.co/vgA3bZSW3Y"
Stevens has served as a congressional representative since 2019 after succeeding Dave Trott. She was born in Rochester Hills, Michigan in 1983 and currently resides in Birmingham. She is an alumna of American University with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
