Haley Stevens addresses loss of Kilpatrick, Middle East peace hopes, and health care costs

Rep. Haley Stevens, who represents Michigan’s 11th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on social media this week addressing local and international issues, as well as paying tribute to a former colleague.

On October 8, 2025, Stevens expressed condolences following the death of former Congresswoman Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick. In her post, she wrote, "I’m saddened by the passing of former Congresswoman Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick. She was a trailblazer for Detroit — from the Michigan State House to seven terms in Congress. As a fellow Michigander, I’m inspired by her courage and love for her community. My heart is with the".

Later, on October 9, 2025, Stevens commented on ongoing efforts to secure peace and humanitarian aid in Gaza, stating, "I’m praying that this deal means we will finally see peace, see the hostages released, and see aid get into Gaza."

That same day, Stevens addressed concerns about rising health care costs affecting families in her district and across the country. She posted, "Michigan 11 — I want to hear from you. Across the country, hardworking families are receiving notices with massive premium increases because of Trump’s health care crisis. I will never stop fighting to lower your health care costs."

Stevens has represented Michigan’s 11th District since 2019 after succeeding Dave Trott. Born in Rochester Hills in 1983 and currently residing in Birmingham, she holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from American University.
