South Lyon Community Schools issued the following announcement.
On Thursday, April 30 the South Lyon Community Schools Board of Education selected two finalists after publicly interviewing six candidates in the search for its new superintendent of schools.
Finalist interviews will be conducted as follows: Tuesday, May 5 6:00 p.m. Steven Archibald, Assistant Superintendent of HR & District Services, Livonia Public Schools, Livonia, MI 7:10 p.m. Matthew Outlaw, Superintendent, Brandon School District, Ortonville, MI These interviews, conducted via Google Meet, will be open to the public in accordance with the Open Meetings Act. Citizens interested in joining the meetings can find details on the South Lyon Community Schools website (www.slcs.us).
Mr. Archibald has been with Livonia Public Schools throughout his career, serving as a high school and middle school teacher, high school assistant principal and principal, and central administrator. He has been in central administration for nine years, serving in his current role since November of 2017.
Dr. Outlaw has led the Brandon School District as its superintendent for the past six years. Prior to Brandon he served Grosse Pointe Public Schools as a high school assistant principal, athletic director and principal. He began his career in Novi Public Schools as a high school teacher and dean of students. The Board expects to make its final decision by May 18, with the new superintendent scheduled to begin work in his new position on July 1, 2020.
