Farmington Public School District recently issued the following announcement.
“I Matter Because...” Student Photography Exhibit from PTA Reflections Program at Farmington Hills City Hall through August 27
Photography winners from the annual Farmington Public Schools PTA Reflections program will be on display in the first-floor atrium at Farmington Hills City Hall through August 27. City Hall is located at 31555 W. Eleven Mile Road, and the exhibit is open to the public Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
All students in Farmington Public Schools from preschool to 12th grade were encouraged to participate. Judges strongly considered the interpretation of the Reflections theme, "I Matter Because...", during the evaluation process.
"The challenges of the pandemic have not dampened the passion and creativity of our students,” said District Chairperson Pauline Kim. “It clearly shows in their amazing work."
Reflections is a PTA-sponsored creativity contest that encourages students to express themselves via visual arts, photography, literature, film production, music composition, and dance choreography.
Over 50 years, the National PTA Reflections program has helped students explore their thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence, and find a love for learning that will increase their success in school and in life.
The photography displayed at Farmington Hills City Hall represents the collection of entries that advanced from individual school level competitions to the district level. All other categories of creativity were submitted virtually and can be found on the Farmington Public Schools website at https://sites.google.com/view/2021reflect. Several pieces advanced to regional, state, and national levels.
Students can look ahead to the 2021-2022 Reflections challenge and start work on new creative projects under the theme "I Will Change the World By...”
