Farmington Public Safety Cadets
The City of Farmington is accepting applications for a Public Safety Cadet (PSC) to perform a variety of duties related to assisting public safety officers in the course of their duties and to maintain and monitor the jail and public safety department.
Position Description:
The Public Safety Cadet is a non-sworn part- time civilian position within the Department of Public Safety. The PSC is responsible for maintaining the overall security of the department and for monitoring the Farmington jail. There is no promise of promotion to officer with this position.
Some of the job duties of the Public Safety Cadet are as follows:
• Processing and monitoring prisoners.
• Clerical work.
• Assist citizens who come up to the front desk, including taking minor criminal and non criminal reports.
• Assist the shift supervisor in the course of his/her duties.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the public safety department.
• Monitor the department’s internal surveillance cameras.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 18 years of age
• No felony convictions.
• Current MI driver’s license
• Acceptable driving record
• Strong moral character.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including shift work, nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency callbacks.
• Must be able to pass a comprehensive pre-employment screening process and background investigation.
• Must be able to work individually as well as be part of a team.
• The ideal candidate will be a positive and upbeat individual who is willing to take the first steps in a lifelong profession, whether it be law enforcement, fire fighting, or both.
Benefits of the Position:
Wages:
Starting: $15.45 per hour, while working up to 28 hours per week.
Ability to pick which days and shifts you work.
Uniform Shirt and Pants provided.
In-house PSC training including defensive tactics, proper radio technique, ride a-longs and more.
