Farmington Road Streetscape road closure notice

26

As previously mentioned in December 2022, one more road closure of Farmington Road was planned for late winter/early spring 2023 in order to complete the streetscape project. On Monday, March 6, 2023 Farmington Road between Orchard Street and Grand River Avenue will close down to allow for construction to once again begin. Please note that neither Alta Loma nor Orchard St are expected to experience anymore closures. Farmington Road would be opened once the project was deemed complete.

The remaining work involves all sidewalk and streetscape elements on the west side of the road along with final brick paver adjustments on the east side of the road. By closing the road completely we can ensure the contractor will be able to wrap up the project in the safest and most efficient manner possible.

In conjunction with the road closure, the previous vehicle detour will be in effect again. This detour utilizes Gill Rd to the west and Orchard Lake Rd to the east, by way of either Grand River Ave or Freedom Rd. Regarding pedestrian traffic and sidewak access, the western sidewalk will be closed while under construction and the sidewalk on the east side of the road will experience intermittent closures. During sidewalk closures of both east and west sides, the sidewalk along Liberty St shall be utilized. We kindly ask all residents to recognize and follow all posted detour signage and barricades.

Please keep children and pets away from all construction operations.  Construction activities, and the associated equipment that goes with it, is attractive to small children and can be dangerous. Please keep children away from the equipment, removals, mass grading, underground utility installation, hot/fresh asphalt, and wet concrete.

If you have any specific questions regarding the project, such as scheduling, parking, or access, please call the City Public Works Department at (248) 473-7250, or Mr. Austin Downie, Engineer for OHM at (734) 466-4437.

The City and all other project team members are eagerly looking forward to the final completion of this project and the impact it will have on the Farmington community.
