Rep. Haley Stevens, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Michigan's 11th district, has recently shared a series of tweets highlighting significant issues and achievements. These posts reflect her perspectives on Black History Month and recent developments concerning USAID.
On February 2, 2025, Rep. Stevens commemorated Black History Month by acknowledging the vital contributions of Black Americans to the nation. She stated, "Our country is a better place because of the contributions of Black Americans. This Black History Month, we honor and recognize the extraordinary achievements of Black Americans in every part of American life and culture."
The following day, on February 3, 2025, she expressed concerns over potential changes affecting USAID and their broader implications. In one tweet, she commented on the constitutional challenge posed by certain actions that could impact humanitarian aid delivery: "Not only is it a challenge to the separation of powers the framers of the Constitution intended, it is also leaves a power vacuum in the delivery of humanitarian aid that China is all too eager to fill."
In another post on the same day, Rep. Stevens criticized former President Donald Trump's efforts regarding USAID. She remarked that these attempts could undermine national security and competitiveness: "Donald Trump's attempts to unilaterally shut down USAID, a Congressionally authorized agency, makes America less secure and less competitive."
