Rep. Haley Stevens, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Michigan’s 11th district, recently shared her views on several issues via social media. Her tweets covered topics ranging from healthcare access to education for Native students and concerns over taxpayer data protection.
On February 6, 2025, Rep. Stevens highlighted the reliance of many working Americans on Medicaid due to lack of employer-provided health insurance. She stated, "Did you know that many WORKING Americans rely on Medicaid because they can’t access health insurance through their employers? They are the folks who work in our nursing homes and grocery stores and provide home care to our seniors."
In a subsequent post dated February 7, 2025, she expressed gratitude towards representatives from the American Indian Higher Education Consortium for their visit. She discussed the importance of educational access for Native students, emphasizing her commitment by stating, "Thank you to the American Indian Higher Education Consortium representatives from across MI who stopped by today. We talked about the critical role @usedgov plays in ensuring Native students can access a good education. I won't stand by & let anyone take that away."
Later that day, Rep. Stevens voiced her opposition to Elon Musk having access to treasury payment systems and U.S. taxpayers' information. She urged her colleagues to support legislation aimed at protecting taxpayer data: "ONCE AGAIN, ELON MUSK SHOULD NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THE TREASURY PAYMENT SYSTEMS & U.S. TAXPAYERS INFORMATION... I'm calling on 3 of my @HouseGOP colleagues to do the right thing & join my Taxpayer Data Protection Act to make sure data isn't accessed inappropriately by anyone, ever."
