On March 9, 2025, Rep. Stevens expressed solidarity with individuals affected by hostage situations globally. She stated, "We stand in solidarity with returnees, hostages, and their families, and we reaffirm our commitment to securing the release of Americans held hostage around the world."

In another post on the same day, she discussed a symbolic gesture in Washington D.C., where the Hostage Flag was displayed to honor those detained abroad. She remarked on her role in passing related legislation as part of the 2023 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), stating "Around Washington the Hostage Flag is flying, to remember those still detained abroad. I could not be more proud to have helped pass the legislation as part of the 2023 NDAA to make this day of observance and this flag possible."
