The multitude of manuscripts and imprints produced during the Spanish Early Modern Age that has survived until nowadays give proof of the vivid cultural and political life of that period and the intense, dynamic and very often polemic relationships between scholars. As they developed within a generally conflictive context, because of the variety of wars that were going on, from the political ones to the confrontations of mentalities, one could only imagine the wide possibilities of making interesting connections between the knowledge fields that covered and at the same time revealed the relational network of intellectuals and politicians during the XVI-XVII centuries.

The International Congress Poetized Wars and Polemic Writings in the Modern Age, organized by the Department of Romance, Classical and Modern Greek Languages and Literatures of the Faculty of Foreign Languages of the University of Bucharest aims at bringing together researchers who dedicate their studies to the Spanish and Hispano-American Early Modern Age, interested in questions related to wars and polemics developed within this period and cultural space, together with their consequent projections, and focusing on main study fields such as History, Philology, Poetics Theory, Literature History, Philosophy, Theology and Art History.

The congress also wishes to integrate the border research, such as the Cultural Studies, the History of Mentalities or the History of Ideas, through the creation of a vast space of international and interdisciplinary debate. To this purpose, the organizers will welcome proposals on the following topics: intellectual history, literary and cultural studies, political ideologies, material history and the arts, philosophical doctrines, etc.
