You are cordially invited to the annual Spanish Language and Culture Workshop organized by UArizona Department of Spanish & Portuguese. The focus of this year’s workshop is Humanizing Online Teaching & Learning. As a reminder, this workshop is exclusively designed for current secondary school Spanish teachers and it is free of cost. Due to the pandemic and based on your responses to the survey, this year the workshop will be held virtually via Google classroom and Zoom with synchronous and asynchronous activities.
On Thursday October 22th and Friday October 23rd, participants will learn asynchronously from a series of pre-recorded webinars and participate actively in discussion blogs at their leisure. A live online session will take place on Saturday, October 24th from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm MST (Arizona time) to discuss and ask questions regarding the topics of the webinars. All sessions will be conducted in both, Spanish and English.
Participants will learn from other teachers and professors. Attendees will receive a digital certificate of workshop completion from the University of Arizona for their respective school district’s professional development requirement. PD 9 hours will be included on the digital certificate.
This is a collaborative workshop and if you are interested in sharing your knowledge or nominating a colleague to share their knowledge regarding successful tools, practices, and strategies implemented in your/their classroom, you are encouraged to consider presenting. If you decide to present, you will need to pre-record a 15 minutes presentation for the workshop and be required to attend the live online session to discuss and respond to questions regarding your presentation. Presenters will receive a presenter digital certificate of three additional professional development hours besides the attendance digital certificate. Presenters should RSVP for the workshop no later than October 12th.
Teachers who attended past workshops highlighted some of the benefits of attending the workshop in their evaluations, including: the peer-to-peer interactions and discussions, and developing a network of support and valuable pedagogical resources.
RSVP for the workshop no later than October 20th, 2020.
