Road Construction Update

July 15, 2021

CITY OF FARMINGTON HILLS MAJOR ROAD PROJECTS

11 Mile Road (Middlebelt Road to Inkster Road)

This road rehabilitation and drainage project is well underway.  During the first phase of construction, local access/traffic is being maintained in the westbound direction only from Inkster Road to Middlebelt Road in order to facilitate construction on the south side of 11 Mile Road.  A detour route has been posted for eastbound traffic as well as westbound through traffic.  This project is scheduled to be completely open to traffic in early September.  Updates will be forthcoming as information becomes available.

CONSUMERS ENERGY PIPELINE PROJECT

Middlebelt Road (13 Mile to Maple) and Maple Road (Orchard Lake to Middlebelt)

The Road Commission for Oakland County has approved a permit allowing Consumers Energy to complete pipeline work on Middlebelt Road and Maple Road in the communities of Farmington Hills and West Bloomfield.  During construction, roads will be open to traffic, but road shoulder closures and lane closures will require flaggers to regulate traffic as necessary.  Motorists should expect delays when traveling these routes.  Work is expected to be substantially complete by late August.

ROAD COMMISSION FOR OAKLAND COUNTY PROJECTS

Orchard Lake Road (South of 11 Mile Road to I-696)

This work will require lane closures on Orchard Lake Road. One lane in each direction will remain open to traffic during the concrete slab repair work that is expected to be completed by late August.  Access to businesses and side streets will be maintained during the work.  For more information on the 2021 concrete replacement projects, visit: http://rcocweb.org/419/Concrete-Slab-Replacement.
