The School Nurse serves as a critical health hub for students, ensuring they are ready for learning by managing complex, chronic conditions; collaborating with the School Mental Health Specialist and other school staff to identify and address mental health issues; working to eliminate health disparities and promote healthy behaviors; connecting children and families to health care providers; handling medical emergencies; and navigating outbreaks of communicable diseases by testing, tracking, and vaccinating students and school personnel.
