Adopt-a-Senior/Secret Santa Program

Sclau

City of Farmington Hills recently issued the following announcement.

Adopt-a-Senior/Secret Santa Program

Would you like to be a Secret Santa and make the holidays special for a local senior? City of Farmington Hills Senior Adult Supervisor Teresa Jergovich is looking for helpers to take part in the City’s annual Adopt-a-Senior Program.

Recipients come from Teresa’s case management files or from referrals she receives from the Fire and Police Departments. These seniors might be experiencing financial or health hardships or may simply be alone with no family at the holidays. Receiving goodie baskets and wrapped packages will really lift their spirits! Items requested include household supplies, personal care items, cold weather apparel, non-perishable food items, and holiday candy. In 2020, the Adopt-a-Senior program provided 453 older adults with holiday baskets, helping to ease the isolation that was especially bad during the pandemic.

If you’d like to participate, contact Teresa at tjergovich@fhgov.com or 248-473-1826. She’ll email you a form where you’ll specify the number of seniors you’d like to adopt and if you prefer to sponsor a man or a woman. Then you’ll get a list of possible items to purchase.

All items should be delivered to Teresa Jergovich at the Costick Center, located at 28600 Eleven Mile Road, by 4 p.m. on Friday, December 10.
