City of Farmington Hills recently issued the following announcement.
The Farmington Hills Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred at approximately 10:36 PM on February 21, 2022. The incident occurred in the parking lot at the Shell Gas Station located at Twelve Mile and Orchard Lake Roads.
Officers responded to this location after the Dispatch Center received 9-1-1 calls of gun shots fired, with one subject down. Responding officers located a man lying in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers provided life saving measures until the Farmington Hills Fire Department paramedics arrived on the scene.
The man who was shot is a 26-year-old Southfield resident. He was transported to Beaumont Hospital – Farmington Hills, where he underwent emergency surgery and is currently in critical condition.
The shooter is a 23-year-old male Farmington Hills resident, who did call 9-1-1 and remained on scene and was detained by officers.
The initial investigation revealed that the shooter and the man who was shot are known to each other and that this was not a random crime. Preliminary investigation is ongoing but has indicated that there is no threat to the general public.
Investigators and Evidence Technicians processed the scene, conducted follow-up throughout the night, and continue to work on this investigation.
