CAN I VOTE IN THE PRECINCT AFTER REQUESTING AN ABSENTEE BALLOT?
Those who have received an absentee ballot have the option to change their mind and vote at the precinct instead of by the absentee process. There are two ways to accomplish this:
1) Surrender your absentee ballot to the Clerk's office prior to election day. Then you can vote as usual at the precinct.
2) Surrender your absentee ballot at the precinct on election day. The workers will then be able to issue you a precinct ballot for voting.
If your absentee ballot has been lost, destroyed, or never arrived in the mail, you can either:
1) Request a replacement at the clerk's office or
2) Vote in the precinct.
In either of these situations, workers will ask you to sign an affidavit before you can be issued a ballot. The missing absentee ballot will be invalidated.
PLEASE NOTE: VOTED ABSENTEE BALLOTS SHOULD BE RETURNED TO THE CLERKS OFFICE FOR PROCESSING. Absentee ballots can not be tabulated at the precinct.
We recommend returning ballots personally to the drop box at the Township hall. (Ballots must be received by 8:00 pm on November 3rd).
If you need to return your ballot by mail, send it as early as possible. Once a voted absentee ballot has been accepted by the Clerk's office, voters can confirm this at www.mi.gov/vote.
Polls will be open from 7:00 am - 8:00 pm on November 8th. Visit www.mi.gov/vote to check your registration status and polling location.
