NOTICE- Fluctuating temperatures are making all ice unsafe

The first frigid temperatures of the season may be a welcomed sign for outdoor enthusiasts with an eye on ice fishing, snowmobiling, or skating on a pristine sheet of ice.
As enticing as a frozen lake, river or pond may be – and even with nighttime temperatures in the single digits – Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard encourages everyone to use extreme caution as no ice is 100 percent safe and it certainly isn’t safe yet.
“Understanding the risks of going out on the ice that may be dangerous will help keep your family, friends, and neighbors safe,” Bouchard said. “Familiarizing yourself with some simple ice safety tips can help prevent a tragedy from occurring.”
