Rep. Haley Stevens, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Michigan’s 11th district since 2019, expressed her opposition to a proposed bill on social media on July 2, 2025.

In a tweet posted at 14:48 UTC, Rep. Stevens announced her intention to speak against what she referred to as "Donald Trump’s billionaire handout bill" on the House floor. She affirmed her commitment to advocating for Michigan, stating, "Michigan, I will always show up. I will always speak out. And I will never stop fighting for our state."

Later that day at 17:34 UTC, Rep. Stevens shared further criticism of the bill, describing it as something that made her feel physically ill. She emphasized the importance of economic security for Michiganders and reiterated her stance with "If it doesn’t work for Michigan, it doesn’t work for me. I am a NO."

Concluding her series of tweets at 21:44 UTC, Rep. Stevens provided a link to stories about residents of Michigan whom she claims would be negatively impacted by the legislation under consideration by Republicans. She urged others to read these narratives in a post saying "Read these stories of Michiganders who Republicans are voting to hurt."

Haley Stevens was born in Rochester Hills, Michigan in 1983 and currently resides in Birmingham. She graduated from American University with a BA.
