Rep. Haley Stevens, who represents Michigan’s 11th district in the U.S. Congress, has used her social media platform to address concerns about federal funding for scientific research and education in Michigan, as well as to promote her legislative initiatives.
On July 14, 2025, Stevens posted about a recent science fair hosted by the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee Democrats: "Last week at the @ScienceDems science fair, scientists from U of M and MSU presented research that lost funding under the Trump administration. These cuts don’t just threaten research, they jeopardize Michigan’s future. I will continue to stand up against them because investing https://t.co/lghYzX1bUD".
Later that day, she highlighted bipartisan support for her proposed legislation: "I'm proud to have brought together a wide group of unions and industry leaders for my Unearth America's Future Act. Swipe to see what they're saying! https://t.co/KmJiac6ffx".
On July 15, 2025, Stevens referenced her personal background in education while criticizing recent Supreme Court decisions: "My Dad was a teacher in Detroit public schools. I grew up knowing just how much education matters and how much students rely on it. Now, Trump’s Supreme Court has made it easier to rip away school meals, special ed support, and Pell Grants from Michigan families. I will always https://t.co/XZyFJFibjZ".
Stevens has served in Congress since 2019 after succeeding Dave Trott as representative for Michigan's 11th district. She was born in Rochester Hills in 1983 and currently resides in Birmingham. Stevens holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from American University.
