Rep. Haley Stevens, who represents Michigan’s 11th district in the U.S. Congress, used her social media platform this week to address issues affecting the auto industry and local jobs.

On July 22, Stevens highlighted Detroit’s RACER Trust for its role in revitalizing former industrial sites: "Today, I proudly recognized Detroit’s own RACER Trust, for transforming 7,000 acres of shuttered industrial plants after the Recession into nearly 70,000 jobs across America. From my time as the Chief of Staff on President Obama’s auto rescue, I’ve seen this approach work" (July 22, 2025).

The following day, she announced forthcoming legislation aimed at addressing foreign competition in the automotive sector: "Today’s the day I am going to introduce the No Chinese Cars Act. Here’s why: For years, the Chinese Communist Party has been using unfair trade practices to become a major player in the global auto market, threatening Michigan jobs . They’re moving production to countries" (July 23, 2025).

Later on July 23, Stevens addressed economic policy and its impact on her constituents during a committee session: "Today in @CmteOnCCPDems, I questioned how Trump’s failed China policy is driving up costs for Michiganders and undermining our economic future. Michigan deserves better. I will continue raising my hand to fight for workers and families across our state." (July 23, 2025).

Stevens has served in Congress since replacing Dave Trott in 2019 and is known for her advocacy related to Michigan's manufacturing base and workforce. She was born in Rochester Hills in 1983 and resides in Birmingham. Her academic background includes a BA from American University.
