Rep. Haley Stevens, who represents Michigan’s 11th district in the U.S. Congress, recently reflected on her legislative work and expressed concerns about national trade policy through a series of posts on social media.

On August 9, 2025, Stevens marked the anniversary of major technology legislation, stating, "Three years ago today, we took a big step to strengthen America’s future. The CHIPS and Science Act was signed into law — a bill I was proud to help write and champion. Our goal was simple: bring semiconductor manufacturing back to the U.S., create good-paying jobs, and lower". The CHIPS and Science Act aimed to boost domestic semiconductor production and support American manufacturing.

The following day, August 10, Stevens addressed economic challenges facing her state as a result of recent federal tariffs. She wrote, "As Trump’s shoot-from-the-hip tariffs begin to set in, Michiganders are paying the price. They are raising costs, squeezing manufacturers, and threatening the auto jobs we’ve fought to protect. Our state needs smart trade policy not blanket tariffs that hurt our competitiveness." In an accompanying post made moments later, she shared a link: "https://t.co/ZcAusvZDIs".

Stevens has represented Michigan's 11th District since 2019 after succeeding Dave Trott in Congress. She was born in Rochester Hills in 1983 and currently resides in Birmingham. Stevens is an alumna of American University with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Her recent comments come as policymakers continue to debate strategies for supporting American manufacturing while managing international trade tensions—an issue with significant impact on Michigan’s economy due to its automotive sector.
